Coronavirus waste: guidance for households

What coronavirus waste is and how you should get rid of it

Coronavirus waste is disposable items that may be contaminated with coronavirus when you or someone in your household has symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19).

This includes used tissues or disposable cleaning cloths, gloves or face coverings.

You must:

  • double bag these items and tie the bags
  • keep them separate from other waste for at least 72 hours
  • put them in your black wheelie bin after 72 hours
