Apply for Discretionary Housing Payment

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Discretionary Housing Payment, you must be receiving Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit. 

What you'll need to fill in this form

To fill in this form, you'll need details of:

• the money you have coming in (your income)
• the money you spend (your expenditure)
• your debts
• any savings you have
• your rent and any arrears you have
  
  

Use our income and expenditure document to work out your current money situation. You'll need this information a bit later on.

You may also need to upload:

• evidence of any rent arrears 
• evidence that you have children who stay with you who normally live somewhere else, such as a letter from the person they usually live with, a solicitor or social worker
• evidence of any medical conditions you or your partner have
• evidence that you or your partner are disabled
• evidence that you, your partner, or a member of my family have issues related to drugs or alcohol
• the letter from your landlord if you've been asked to move out of your home
• any other documents that may be relevant

You should get all this information ready and make sure you have enough time to fill in the form in one go. You cannot save the form once you've started.
